The Imo state governor called for sacrifices from Nigerians and for the people to bear with President Muhammadu Buhari’s policies, which he assured, will navigate the country out of the present economic recession.

Okorocha, who spoke during a breakfast meeting with newsmen in the state, said the continued drop in the price of oil which is the backbone of the nation’s economy, has brought a lot of pressure on the economy, adding that it is about time the Federal and state governments create other avenues to create wealth.

The governor, however, noted that the state does not owe workers’ salary arrears as earlier reported but is reviewing the salary structure in some ministries, to meet the current economic realities.

This bashing, came from former deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, who is said to be in shock over the reported approval. Ihedioha, said such huge sums should not be sent at a time the indigenes of the state are going through untold hardship arising from over 20 months of unpaid salary arrears and pensions.
