As people were rejoicing that the Lord as kept them till the last day of 2015, a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officer caused the untimely death of a five-month old baby and leaving several others injured in Ikorodu.

The incident which took place on Thursday, December 31, 2015, was reported to have occurred while the LASTMA official was trying to arrest a commercial bus driver for violating the traffic law around Awoyokun end of Ikorodu Road.
According to Punch, the culprit who is yet to identified was said to have been among the team of traffic officials from the LASTMA’s office at Anthony, Maryland Lagos.

It was reported that the bus driver violated traffic rules by waiting to pick up a passenger by the roadside when the LASTMA officials began to trail him as one of the officials jumped into the front seat of the driver but the driver continued driving in order to escape the arrest.
According to an eye-witness the LASTMA official was said to have pulled out the ignition key from the moving vehicle when the bus crashed into a stationary refuse truck in front of them.
