Protest rocks Sapele over alleged killings, kidnappings

Protest over alleged killings and kidnapping of persons on Thursday rocked Sapele community in Delta State when youths numbering over 5,000 took to various streets in the area to press home their anger.

The protesting youths, reports said, blamed the increasing spate of killings and kidnapping on white ladder cult group, especially for numerous cases of murders, arson and kidnapping since 2009 in Sapele.



Armed with placards: “A cry to the Nigeria Police to come to our aid, we reject cultism, killings and kidnapping in Sapele, politicians please stop covering the criminals”. The protesters led by Ejiro Kelvin however called on the state government to bring to book those perpetuating evils in Sapele and its environs.

While accusing politicians within Sapele of being behind the cultists who allegedly worked for them during elections, the protesters said the present situation in Sapele and its environs portended bad omen as residents presently sleep with their two eyes open.

They said, “Cultists are everywhere in Sapele, they attack innocent persons with bottles, guns and they have killed many innocent persons, we want the state government and the police including other security agencies to come to our aid because at night, they carry out evils on innocent persons”.
