The daughter of the former governor of Oyo state, Victor Omololu-Olunloyo revealed that his father and the rest of her family was saved by the late Biafra warlord, Odumegwu Ojukwu in 1983.

In an exclusive interview with NAIJ.com, Kemi Omololu Olunloyo said some gun men from the Bola Awolowo and the Bola Ige camp and laid siege at their family house in Ibadan when her father called for the late Biafra warlord’s help.

The Omololu-Olunloyo ran for governor of the old Oyo state under the platform of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in 1983.

He defeated the then incumbent governor, Bola Ige of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN).

However, Omololu-Olunloyo’s tenure ended three months later after General Muhammadu Buhari took over power as a military head of state and dissolved all elected government the same year.

Kemi told NAIJ.com that ojukwu was her father’s only Igbo friend.

She said when the gunmen invaded their residence, the former governor called Ojukwu and told of the situation in his home.

She said some soldiers sent by the Biafra warlord rescued her family from that day’s ordeal.

“When my father was running for governor and they were shooting inside our house, the Awolowo camp and the Bola Ige camp, it was Ojukwu’s army that protected us, my dad called him and asked him to send some men. It was his army that actually protected us,” Kemi said.

She also cleared the air on reports that the election was rigged by her father’s party.

“We did not rig the election. We were in our house in Molete, the youngest child being two years old and the oldest being 19 years.

“We were lying down on the floor of our living room when they were shooting at us inside our house during the election. It was a bloody election, the UPM that was the party they had ours was NPM.

“The Awolowo camp was shooting into our house and it was his friend Ojukwu that he called to send some military people, they were the ones protecting us,”  she said.

Kemi also told NAIJ.com that the late Ojukwu has always been her father’s friend.

“When Ojukwu died, my dad was the only Yoruba leader that attended that funeral, so all the rumours about Tinubu went were all lies, my dad was the only Yoruba politician or leader that attended Ojukwu’s funeral,” she said.

Speaking about dumping her support for the Biafra movement, Kemi said she became sceptical of the group’s involvement with violence.

“And the Biafra people that I dumped, when I dumped the Biafra movement I told them it was for only one reason, violence, I told them you cannot have anything with violence; they all say that they are not a violent group, why chanting Biafra or death?” she asked.

Kemi said having spent a lot of time on activism, she has come to understand that you can only garner media attention when you are fighting a just and non-violent cause.

“Is that how CNN is going to cover you? Is that how BBC is going to cover you? Chant Biafra and Peace and you will find human rights agencies supporting you.

“I have been an activist for years, when you chant peace, all the media you want would get interested, they are calling Buhari a paedophile, if you continue calling the president a paedophile on my platform, and I don’t want anything to do with IPOB.

“For this, all the Igbos on my platform are just yabbing me and I don’t care; If you go to HNNAfrica Facebook page, if you see the comments there, they are all yabbing me; I don’t care!” she said.

Kemi said she will not get involved in any form of tribalism and wanted to be addressed as a Nigerian.

“They are making things tribal, I am not a tribal person, I don’t like tribalism, I believe in dialogue and not violence, that why I left the Biafra stuff, it is too tribal for me, I wanted to be called a Nigerian, so I decided I am not doing all the Biafra stuff any more,” she said.

She also condemned the IPOB for their sudden support for the ex-beauty queen and wife of the Biafra warlord, Bianca Ojukwu.

“Now all of a sudden the same Bianca they all cursed out because she has not supported IPOB have become “their Bianca”. Since when? I don’t like when people get tribal like that, you have to know what side you are going to,” she added.

Last week, Kemi was involved in a media fight with the ex-beauty queen.

Kemi speaking to NAIJ.com collaborated former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode’s story that the ex-beauty queen was his “side chick”.

She also said that Bianca got pregnant for the former minister twice – one was miscarried and the other pregnancy aborted.

However, in her reaction, Bianca through her media aide said the former governor’s daughter was deranged and needed psychiatric help.
