– A group of northern youth demanded apology from Governor Ayodele Fayose for his previous comments that no Chibok girl was missing
– Fayose had claimed that the rumour of the abduction of the Chibok girls was mere political fabrication
– The group criticized the governor for playing politics with human lives and described Fayose’s antics as diversionary
“We are disturbed at the manner Fayose who is supposed to know better has dignified politics against human lives,” the group said.
Northern youth under the aegis of North East Youth Peace Development and Empowerment Initiative (NEYPDEI) has called on Ayodele Fayose, the governor of Ekiti state, to apologize for his previous comments that no Chibok girl was missing.
Fayose had claimed that the rumour of the abduction of the Chibok girls was mere political fabrication meant to oust former president Goodluck Jonathan from the office at all costs.
Vanguard reports that Alhaji Kyari Idris Abubakar, the president of NEYPDI, commended the military over the rescue of Amina Ali, one of the missing Chibok girls.
Abubakar criticized the governor for playing politics with human lives and described Fayose’s antics as diversionary.
“We are disturbed at the manner Fayose who is supposed to know better has dignified politics against human lives.”
“We appealed to Nigerians not to take Fayose serious because his action and comments were not in conformity with the reality of things,” he said.

Abubakar advised Fayose to provide quality leadership to the people of Ekiti state, instead of making statements that mislead Nigerians.
Describing the experience of the Chibok parents as very traumatic, the NEYPDI president noted that they did not expect any comment that would worsen their emotional state.
“We know how many parents have lost their lives since April 14, 2014, when the girls were abducted and now, so, for somebody to sit somewhere and say that no girl was missing is beyond insensitive,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, members of the Boko Haram sect are reportedly ready to drop their arms, negotiate a surrender and release the remaining hostages provided that they would not be killed or prosecuted.
Amir Muhammad Abdullahi, a senior Boko Haram militant, said: “We want to surrender because things are getting worse.” He added that neither the Nigerian army nor the terrorist group was winning the battle.
