Edo guber: PDP accuses Ali Modu Sheriff of working with Oshiomole

The chairman of the Edo state chapter of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih has accused embattled ousted national chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff of working with Edo state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomole to destroy Edo PDP.

Chief Orbih was reacting to a statement credited to Sheriff that he and the party executives in the state have been suspended yesterday, June 26.

According to him, a hundred Modu Sheriffs cannot suspend him and his executive from performing their functions in the party, adding that they were duly elected by the party faithful in the state.

His words: “For us in Edo state we want to ignore the statement from Sheriff because to me I see his statement talking of the suspension of a duly elected State Executive Council as the ranting of a sinking former acting National chairman.

“For us in Edo state, we have decided to ignore Sheriff because he was never an elected chairman of the party and that at some point, he was appointed as acting national chairman for three months and at the expiration of the three months, it was just natural that he should pack his load and go home.

“But he is now holding on as if everything in his life depends on this position.

“Let me use this opportunity to say that Sheriff from all indications is working with Governor Adams Oshiomhole and APC in Edo state to see how they can cause disaffection among the members of our party.

“Let me say this; no amount of efforts by Sheriff and his co-travelers will distract us from our mission to rescue the state from the clutches of the deceitful APC government of Adams Oshiomhole.”

The Orbih-led executive had suspended Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, a PDP governorship aspirant in Edo state for alleged anti-party activity.

Iduoriyekemwen who lost the primary election to Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu immediately pitched his tent with the Ali Modu Sheriff faction after his failed bid.

Iduoriyekemwen, on Friday, June 24, in Benin, the Edo state capital, rejected the outcome of the party’s primary.

He described the primary election as a “comedy” which was “clinically manipulated” to favour a preferred candidate of the state leadership of the party.
