It is no longer news that Muslims all over the world celebrated the end of the Ramadan fasting amid pomp and pageantry, especially with special Eid prayers.
In Lagos, the residents were not left out of this celebration, as there were 30 full days of fasting as against the anticipated 29 which this year’s Ramadan was expected to have.
The late sighting of the moon had created somewhat of a tension among Nigerians, a situation which led the federal government to add Thursday, July 7 to the Public Holidays (Tuesday and Wednesday; 5 & 6).
After much talks here and there, the Eid-el-Fitr took place all over the world and prominent Lagosians did not miss the opportunity to thank God for the successful completion of another Ramadan, with special prayers for next year’s celebration.
The deputy governor of Lagos state, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule; the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu; leader of the National House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Lagos state commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni, were among some important dignitaries at the celebration in Lagos.
NAIJ.com visited a praying ground on Lagos Island during the occasion and our cameraman caught some ladies taking selfies while prayers were being rendered, while some others also posed in funny ways for photographs.
