The governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has approved the appointment of Mrs Aisha Bello Muhammad as the Accountant General of the state.
According to Leadership, Mrs Aisha Bello Muhammad is the first woman to be appointed to the position in the 49 years history of the state.
Muhammad Garba, the state information commissioner, in a statement, said Mrs Muhammad’s appointment was with immediate effect.
The erstwhile acting Accountant General, Ibrahim Kura, retains his position as Director, Treasury.
Until her appointment, she was the commissioner of planning and budget in the state.

Mrs Muhammad who was born in 1965 is a graduate of financial management and accounting.
She has held several managerial positions in the banking sector including manager, Kaduna South, First Bank Nigeria Ltd and as operation manager, Minna branch, head of credit risk and manager, area office, Abuja all with Habib Nigeria Bank Limited.
It would also be recalled that a northern Nigerian female for the first time broke the jinx of being a student union leader in the region.
The student Amina Yahaya, a 400 level English student at the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto became the leader of the university’s student union, a position usually taken by males.
