Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu has has re-instated his innoce over allegations of allegedly forging Senate rules to pave way for the emergence of Bukola Saraki as Senate president.
According to media reports, Abubakar Malami the Attorney General and Minister of Justice prosecuted Senate president Bukola Saraki and his deputy Senator Ike Ekweremadu for forging senate rules to emerge leaders of the Senate.
Recall that this is not the first time Ekweremadu is stressing his innocence. In a press statement, he wrote: “We are, therefore, as surprised as other Nigerians at the current twists and turns by the same police one year after and also after they had since submitted to the Attorney General of the Federation their investigation report, which neither indicted nor even made the slightest mention of Senator Ike Ekweremadu. Moreso that the petitioners never named Ekweremadu in their petition in the first instance.

“We wish to state that we read the reports of the so-called police invitation and charges allegedly preferred against Senator Ekweremadu; the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki; and others on the pages of the newspapers, like other Nigerians.
However, he took to his twitter page to re-open the matter saying that he never committed any offence or forged ant documents to alter the Senate standing rules.
He also said that no lawmaker or senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria accused him of committing the crime because he is innocent.
“My only offence is my emergence as Deputy Senate President. Some people found it unacceptable, and that is I’m being charged,” he said.
Reacting to the padded budget, Ekweremadu added that the National Assembly assured Nigerians that the apex lawmaking body is working with the interest of the people.
