The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state he has taken the role of pastor/imam of Plateau, Daily Trust reports.

The party was reacting to a directive by Lalong, declaring every Friday of the week for prayer and fasting in government offices.

The PDP said: “The governor is sending wrong signals that he has abandoned his constitutional duties, and he is now taking up new roles as pastor/imam of Plateau. He is introducing religious worship in government offices to divert our people’s attention from his lack of vision and failures in administering the state, to worship in government offices.”

The party described the governor’s actions as hypocritical, asking him to be godly by leading by example especially in areas of transparency and accountability.

He should not declare official sessions for prayers and fasting in government offices; instead, he should lead by utilizing the funds accruing to the state from various sources including the federal accounts, internal revenue base, and grants to meet the development aspirations of God’s children in Plateau,” John Akans of the state PDP added.
