The former chairman of the committee on appropriations, House of Representatives Abdulmumin Jibrin has finally fulfilled his promise to file a petition against the speaker Yakubu Dogara.
At the ICPC Jibrin, told NAIJ.com that he has just met with the chairman of the ICPC Ekpo Nta.
Jibrin said his aim for filing the petitions is to ensure that corruption is fully purged from the House of Representatives.

“I am here to submit a formal petition and give further clarification and insights on allegations of corruption abuse of trust and office by Mr. Speaker Yakubu Dogara, the deputy speaker of House Yusuf Lasun, the whip of the House Alhassan Dogo and the minority leader of the House Leo Ogor and nine other members of the House who are also chairmen of different other committees,” Jibrin said.
“We have submitted the petition, the chairman of the commission received us in person and we exchanged a couple of ideas on how to move foward,” he said.
Jibrin said he hopes to see “a very quick commencement of investigation” from the ICPC.
“If these corrupt set of Nigerians can be prosecuted in earnest and if found guilty sent to jail immediately.
“So that it will send a very powerful signal of the anti-corruption fight of this government.”
Jibrin in a series of allegations said the House speaker and his three-man cabal illegally added over N40 billion to the appropriation bill.
Jibrin allegations came after he was sacked as the chairman, committee on appropriations of the House of Representatives.
Although the chairman of the ICPC did not address the press on the matter.
NAIJ.con cannot authoritatively say if the commission will commence investigation on Jibrin’s allegations or not.
Meanwhile, Jibrin, has admitted that his revelations over the alleged padding of the 2016 budget were late.
Speaking on the controversial insertions into the 2016 budget, on a Channels Television weekly programme, ‘Sunday Politics’, Jibrin said although this revelations were coming late, but as the chairman of the committee, he was made to believe that certain information were not to be disclosed.
He explained that he could not expose the budget padding in good time, as it was difficult for him to stand against the institutionalised corruption in the House of Representatives.
