Tosin Ogunbodede has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to stay off the governorship race in Ondo state.

The Akure based lawyer urged Tinubu to renounce his alleged endorsement of an aspirant for the governorship primaries.

Ogunbodede, in an open letter, said it would serve the state better if all the aspirants were allowed to test their popularity.

The letter partly read: “Our people in Ondo state have hitherto conducted the campaign for the office of the governor in harmony until you deliberately fell into the trap of strife. Today, as you can see, your action has brought tension, quarrels and division.

“Strife opens the door to every evil work. It’s the enemy’s trap to keep people from victory.

“As a leader, you did not need to lead our party in Ondo State into the trap of strife. You should rise above it, by simply dropping this your poisonous endorsement before it turns into something bigger than it needs to be. You don’t have to sink down to this level to prove that you’re right.”

In the same vein, reports that the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, plans to handpick a candidate for the party ahead of the Ondo governorship election has been greeted with repugnance.

This follows a statement by the women leaders of the APC in the 18 local government councils of Ondo state, in which they warned Tinubu against imposing a governorship candidate on the party.

In a letter jointly signed by the women leaders on Monday, August 15, the APC said that the preferred choice of Tinubu for the governorship election was not popular.
