Nigeria’s sports minister Solomon Dalung declares a “state of emergency” in Nigerian sports.

Dalung was speaking at a press conference on Nigeria’s performance at the Rio Olympics, the upcoming Paralympics and the way forward for Nigerian sports.

The minister read a report by the committee reviewing Nigeria’s performance at the just concluded Rio Olympics.
He said: “To assure Nigerians and members of the committee that this report will not find uncomfortable accommodation in the archives, I hereby declare a state of emergency in Nigerian sports”.
The minister said Nigeria needs to development sport stars at grassroots level to compete at national, continental and global levels.
Dalung has been under heavy criticism from Nigerians because of the poor performance of Nigerian athletes at the just concluded Rio Olympics.
