Justice Okon Abang makes SHOCKING revelation on PDP leadership tussle

– Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja has said that his hands are tied on the matter between the two warring factions of the Peoples Democratic Party

–  The judge also said adjourned hearing on the substantive matter indefinitely pending the decision of the Appeal court on an application filed by Makarfi led group

The judge presiding over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership tussle has said his hands are tied on the matter.

Justice Okon Abang on the Federal High Court said: “My hands are tied, I am bound by the decision of the Supreme and Appeal Courts.”

Abang also said the appeal filed by the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the party challenging the court’s jurisdiction to hear the motion on injunction filed by Ali Modu-Sheriff is nullified since there was never a court decision on the appeal before the caretaker committee approached the appellate court.

The judge further ruled that the substantive matter be adjourned sine die (indefinitely) pending the decision of the Appeal court on an application filed by Makarfi.

“There is nothing I can do, I hope parties involved will make efforts to accelerate the matter at the Appeal Court,” Abang said.

The Makarfi led faction of PDP had in an interlocutory appeal challenged the Jurisdiction of the Federal High Court to hear the matter stopping them from conducting the party’s convention.

However, Abang in his ruling also slammed the Makarfi led group stating that the issue was never made as a ground for any form of appeal.

Meanwhile, the chief justice of Nigeria Mahmud Mohammed has said that the National Judicial Council is currently investigating Justice Abang and two other judges involved in the PDP leadership tussle.

Mohammed speaking during the swearing in of some senior advocates of Nigeria last week said the conflicting rulings by the judges heightened the crisis in the party.

Also, an Appeal Court Morenike Ogunwuniju in one of her rulings slammed Abang for making contradictory pronouncements on the matter.

Ogunwuniju accused Abang of committing “democratic rape” on the matter.
