Senator Danjuma Goje has said a bad governor from the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be of more benefit to Gombe state than the current state governor from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to The Nation, Danjuma who is a former governor of Gombe state, made the statement when reacting to the inauguration of a caretaker committee for the state chapter of the party by the national leadership.

Goje who is the chairman, Senate committee on appropriation urged APC party members in the state to remain united and work as one family, adding that the crisis in the state chapter of the party has robbed it of a number of benefits from the federal government.

He said: “The leadership of the party has decided to do a good job by bringing people from our neighboring state, and I want to ask the leadership in your presence to be neutral, to be objective, to be committed in trying to unite this party, because I am sure whether you belong to any other group, it is better that we have a bad APC Governor than not to have any governor at all.

The senator explained that no matter how bad an APC governor may turn out to be, the administration will still be of benefit to party members because some of them would get appointment in his administration, contrary what to the way APC members were being treated under the current PDP administration in the state.

Senator Danjuma commended the national leadership of the party for the intervention which saved the state chapter from crisis.

He said “I want to, on behalf of all of us in APC in Gombe State regardless of the past events, assure you that we will give maximum support to the newly inaugurated leadership in the state. I to call on all other members of the APC in Gombe State to come and join us and unite to support leadership to make APC strong in Gombe State.”

In another development, the PDP has lashed out at Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole for reportedly forcing civil servants to join in partisan politics ahead the governorship elections on September 10.

According to Vanguard, the opposition party, in a statement on Sunday, September 4, condemned an alleged directive to civil servants in the state to where paraphernalia of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state as well as fly its flags and adorn their walls and tables with the party’s posters and stickers or face sack.
