Hunters and Boko Haram fighters engage in afternoon shootout; see the outcome

A Boko Haram attack in Madagali village in Adamawa has led to the death of 7 terrorists.

According to Daily Trust, the attack occoured around 12pm as the terrorists attacked the village and set houses ablaze.

Residents were forced to flee for safety as the terrorists shot at villagers.

It was reported that the villagers alerted the hunters who have been helping the army in the fight against insurgency.

Bukar Jimeta who is the commander of the Adamawa State Hunters Association led other hunters to the scene where they engaged the terrorists in a gun fight leading to the death of 7 Boko Haram fighters.

Jimeta when contacted confirmed the Boko Haram attack but refused to provide details.

Meanwhile, Nigerian troops arrested 21 cattle rustlers in Borno state for ‘aiding and abetting’ the activities of Boko Haram terrorists in the devastated North East.

Army’s acting spokesman Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman said in a statement late on Saturday, October 22 that the arrests were based on the army’s determination to rid the region of all heinous crimes.

He said the rustlers fund the Boko Haram with their activities and that the arrested rustlers are being profiled.

The statement read: “As part of measures to stem the tide of livestock rustling which serves as another means of funding Boko Haram terrorists activities, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, in conjunction with other security agencies has taken measures to stop the criminality.

“These measures have led to the arrest of some persons involved in aiding and abetting this heinous crime in the Theatre of Operation.

“So far, 21 suspected persons have been arrested. Preliminary investigation and profiling of the suspects has commenced.
