The Anglican Communion has pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to seek means the federal government can alleviate the suffering of Nigerians.

The Anglican Church, Ijumu Diocese in Kogi state called on the president to stop paying lip service to federal government’s plans and show sincere commitment to promises made to Nigeria before election.

The church also asked the federal government to diversify the nation’s economy and boost agriculture by providing enabling environment and tools to ease pains suffered by citizens.

In a communique issued at the end of its third synod meeting at Ayere in Ijumu local government area of Kogi state, the Anglican Church said an average Nigerian is still suffering.

The communique signed by the President of the Synod Rt. Reverend Ezekiel Ikupolati called on the federal government to leverage on the smoot change of government and alleviate poverty in Nigeria.

Ikupolati condemning the rate of unemployment among Nigerian youth urged the President Buhari to tackle the situation.

He said government at all level must make concrete efforts to nipping the situation in the bud.

“The Synod also observes the epileptic supply of electricity in our country as a whole,” the communique said.

“Synod also observed the lopsided approach of government to security leaves much to be desired.

“Appointment into government service is one sided and religious biased. Fulani’s destruction of people is unchecked.

“Synod frowns at all these developments and directs that government should balance the various appointment in accordance with the geopolitical zone and equally among all religions,” the church said

It further called state governments to hasten ongoing repairs on state roads to reduce the number of death that occur on these roads.

“The Synod laments the deplorable conditions of state road and the numbers of souls that have been unnecessarily wasted. Hence, synod urges government to see to it timely rehabilitation.

“The synod also observes the unending screening of workers, nonpayment of workers salary and putting the retirees in the state of melancholy.

“Synod urges government to do something as a matter of urgency to rectify the situation.”

On Tuesday, October 25, a man of God, the general superintendent of the Holy Spirit Mission Church Charles Ighele said there are two major problems facing the President Buhari-led government.

Ighele also advised President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) on how to handle the recession ravaging the Nigeria’s economy.
