– Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu described Biafra as a reality that cannot be defeated
– He called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and other detained IPOB members
– The Igbo leader called for a protest over the activities of herdsmen
Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu has said that the concept of Biafra cannot be wished away like Oduduwa in the south west and Arewa in the north.
Vanguard reports that the prominent Igbo leader called on the federal government to release Nnamdi Kanu and other detained members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) as they had not done anything wrong.

He said that since nobody can say the Yorubas and Hausas are trying to secede from Nigeria, so also was Biafra a reality.
He made this comment at Gregory University, Uturu in Abia state at the opening ceremony of the 2016 World Igbo Summit on Thursday, October 27.
Iwuanyanwu called for the release of the Biafra agitators and also called for a protest at the National Assembly over the activities of herdsmen.
He said: “For years, I have been unhappy over Igbo affairs. This summit is a beacon of hope if we seriously work together. It will restore Igbo unity and hope.
“We should at the end have Uturu Declaration,” he said, while advising the organisers on the areas they would look into which include restructuring of the nation and marginalisation, which he said prompted the agitation by the youths.

“Marginalisation of Igbo makes the youths to agitate for Biafra. Biafra is a reality you cannot wish away like Oduduwa and Arewa.
“Biafra is a reality, but we are not seceding; the agitators have no arms. You can only arrest them if they carry arms; they are peaceful agitators. The Federal Government should release them from prison.
Meanwhile, the Indigenous People Of Biafra lashed out at Igbo elders for associating with its planed All Igbo Summit scheduled to hold in Uturu Abia State in November.
Vanguard reports that in a statement signed by Mr. Emma Powerful who is the media aide of the pro-Biafra group, it said it was not in support of the summit and insulted the elders who it said are only concerned about what they can get from Abuja.
The group said: “The group of so-called Igbo leaders, who are going about brandishing the noble name of our great IPOB, in their emails to people for their fraudulent and Aso rock-sponsored All Igbo Summit, are hereby warned to desist forthwith from including IPO’s name in their emails.”
