Since the arrest of the former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), many notable Nigerians have taken turns to inquire about his welfare while in detention

Since the re-arrest of the former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), many notable Nigerians have taken turns to inquire about his welfare while in detention.

Fani-Kayode is currently in detention at the Abuja holding facility of the EFCC.

He was arrested outside the courtroom in a Federal High Court in Lagos, on October 21, where he appeared for another charge leveled against him by the commission.

The former minister is being held alongside former presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati; the former minister of state for defence, Musiliu Obanikor and a former minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed.

Below is a list of prominent Nigerians that have visited the detained persons at the EFCC facility:

1. The deputy Senate President

The deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu was the first notable Nigerian to pay the detainees a visit.

On October 27, Ekweremadu championed the visit to the detainees.

The deputy senate leader during his visit encouraged the inmates to be strong.

He told them to be strong and accept their present situation as such suffered by Nigeria’s past leaders.

2. Bishop Matthew Kukah

Matthew Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese on Monday, October 31, made a unique visit to the commission.

During his visit the renowned Bishop prayed for Fani-Kayode, Abati and the other detainees.

He encouraged them to keep the faith throughout their stay at the EFCC facility.

Kukah who met the inmates in the company of the EFCC chairman Ibrahim Magu commended the commission and its leadership.

3. National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

Of course, as a PDP chieftain in detention, Fani-Kayode and his fellow detainees also enjoyed the visit of the party’s leadership.

Makarfi was accompanied by the national secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ben Obi; the PDP publicity secretary, Dayo Adeyeye; PDP organizing secretary, Abdul Ningi, Sentor Ughesi, Hajiya Binta Kuraye, former presidential adviser on politics, Akin Osuntokun and a cousin to former president Goodluck Jonathan, Robert Azibaola.

The PDP leader, also encouraged Fani-Kayode and other detainees.

4. Jeremiah Useni

Subsequently, Thursday, November 3, the former minister of FCT and a serving senator Jeremiah Useni made a visit to Fani-Kayode, Abati, and others at the EFCC.

Useni was accompanied by the former minister of culture Abubakar Mohammed; Ambassador Iliya Damagua; John Dara – a former presidential candidate;  Halliru Ilea, a member of the House of Representatives, Salisu Ningi, Aremo Adekunle Alao and Babatunde Ajala – PDP leaders from Osun

Also on the list was Jonathan Asake a member of the Christian Information Network.

The team which visited at about 4.30pm on Thursday also encouraged the four detainees.

They expressed joy that all the detainees of them looked well and were strong.

The detained PDP member leaders thanked them for visiting.

They also urged them to let the world know that they are very well and will soon be vindicated.
