Reports went viral on Thursday that the state commissioner of police, Ibrahim Zanna, released the two suspected officers, Corporal Musa Edon and Idide Oreva, thereby allowing them to evade prosecution for alleged kidnapping.

The report further stated that it was the practice of the commissioner of police to set free his officers who commit crimes against their code of conduct, even as it alleged that the Public Relations Officer of the command, Celestina Kalu, confirmed the release of the suspects.
