The Ondo state police command have arrested the leader of a notorious three-man armed robbery gang in Ondo state.

The leader of the robbery team met his water-loo after he and his group held a mother of four, Folashade Jayeoba, hostage and led her to the bank to withdraw N90,000.

According to Vanguard, Jayebo was reportedly led to the bank after she complained to the suspects that she had no cash at home.

The leader of the gang was said to have asked for her ATM card and they followed her to the bank while they held her children hostage at home.

While parading the suspects in front of journalists, the Ondo state police commissioner, Hilda Harrison, said the suspects invaded the house of the victim and robbed her of valuables, including a flat screen television.

The police boss explained that they also abducted the victim and her four children and led them to Keystone Bank in Alagbaka, Akure, where she was forced to withdraw N90,000, adding that the money was collected from the victim before she and the children were set free by the suspects.

The leader of the gang, 23-year-old Samuel Ayodele has since been arrested at Gaga, Oke-Aro area of the Akure metropolis. He was said to have confessed to the crime, while the victims’ items were recovered from his house.

In a related development, the Lagos state police command has charged one Taiye Obakoya to court for withdrawing N150,000 out of the N1million mistakenly transferred to his bank account.

Obakoya, 22, a car painter residing in of No 26 Awolowo street, Oworosoki, was arraigned yesterday, November 3 by the Lion Building Police Division, Obalende, before Mrs J. O. Adepoju of the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court.

Obakoya is standing trial on a charge marked Q/62/2016 on one count of stealing contrary to Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
