The Nigerian Navy carried out at attack on oil thieves in Ogu Bolo area of Rivers state leading to the destruction of 22 illegal refineries.
The Punch reports that the operation was carried out by NNS in a patrol team from FOB BONNY.

Apart from destroyed 22 illegal refineries, they also attacked 10 dug out wells in the area.
Commodore Christian Ezekobe who is the director of information of the NNS noted that oil theft was a big issue.
He said boats carrying stolen crude oil were also destroyed and that the navy will not allow the menace to grow.
He said: “A patrol team from FOB BONNY raided Bolo and the adjoining creeks. During the raid, the team destroyed 12 illegal refinery sites, six Cotonou boats carrying suspected crude oil and 20 tanks laden with suspected illegally refined diesel.
“Other items destroyed include six tanks laden with crude oil as well as one speedboat laden with diesel. Ten dug out wells used for storage of suspected crude oil were also destroyed.”
