IMO State Police Command have in Owerri debunked reports in some newspapers (not The Guardian) last week, which insinuated arrest of Boko Haram operatives, saying from investigations they carried out, no such training camp exist anywhere in the state.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Joy Elemoko, at the weekend, the command insisted that when the men and officers of the command went on investigation to the institution where it was alleged the training was going on (Imo College of Advanced Professional Studies), there was no such training of the sect.

The statement said the command only found persons undergoing training courses in some professional fields.

Last week, the Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Chief George Eguh, had in a press briefing alleged that the Imo State government was training Boko Haram persons at the college located along Egbu Road, Owerri. Consequently, some local tabloids based in Owerri feasted it.

Also, Imo State government, through the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the governor, Mr. Sam Onwuemedo, debunked the claim, accusing the PDP of attempting to destroy the image of the government.
