Labourer, 43, Docked For Allegedly Defiling 7-year-old Girl

An Ebute Meta chief magistrates’ court in Lagos, on Thursday, remanded  a labourer, John Ayu, 43, at the Ikoyi Prisons, for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl.

Avu, who resides at No. 2, Omole Street, Ilaje,  Ebute Meta (West), is facing a one-count charge of defiling the girl before the Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Richard Odigie, told the court that the crime was committed on January 21, 2014, at about 6.30 p.m., at the residence of the accused.

Odigie said that the accused and the family of the girl, who was violated, lived on the same street.
Odigie explained that on the fateful day, Ayu’s wife dropped their baby in the home of the victim’s sister.
“After waiting for the mother to return and pick her child and she didn’t, the sister directed the victim to take the baby back to her mother,’’ he said.

According to him, the girl met the accused at home; he pushed her onto the bed and forcefully had unlawful, carnal knowledge of her.
