There is a crack in the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State following the probe of some members of the party involved in last weekend’s aborted rally organised by a pro-Jonathan group known as the New Dawn.

Some leading members of the party were against the plot by the PDP to set up a disciplinary panel and suspend some of its members for anti-party activities and disrespect to Governor, Seriake Dickson.

Others, including the chairman of the party, Col. Sam Inokoba, agreed to a summon of the alleged PDP components involved in the organisation of the aborted rally and cautioned them against action perceived to be inciting and attempts to hijack party functions in the name of pro-Jonathan rally.

Sources confirmed to LEADERSHIP Weekend that Dickson was angry over the controversy the aborted rally generated and the perceived rising profile of the group in advancing the 2016 governorship plan of its alleged sponsor and senior special assistant to the president on research, Dr. Waripomowei Dudafagh.

The source claimed that the request of the governor for the party to sanction those involved in the rally was tactfully stepped down and a warning issued to the organisers of the rally.
