The governor gave the advice in Ilorin while receiving officials of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Kwara chapter, during a courtesy visit.
He also advised the students to attach importance to their academic pursuits and shun cultism.
“As you are promoting peace, you should not forget to lend your voices to the entrenchment of equity and justice to enhance good governance.”
Ahmed, who highlighted the efforts of his administration in empowering the youths, told the students that youths formed the fulcrum of his administration’s prosperity.
He said the youths had a role to play in the entrenchment of good governance, adding that no fewer than 9,000 youths will be empowered before the end of the year.
The President of the chapter, Mr Ibrahim Abdulrasak, had earlier told the governor that the visit was part of the association’s activities to mark its maiden unity week.
He commended the state government on its education reform agenda and described the governor as a visionary leader.
He said the week was organised to educate and enlighten students on the importance of unity in enhancing peaceful co-existence.
He assured the governor of the association’s unflinching support in the delivery of the dividends of democracy across the state.(NAN)
