It was gathered that the father identified as Oni Mama and his late son, Deji lived alone at No 5, Fashola Street, in Ejigbo area of the state after the mother of the victim had abandoned his father to marry another man.

The late child who cried and followed his father as he made to leave the compound, however got more than he bargained.

Terrified by the heinous act, the neighbours were said to have reported the incident at the Police Station in Ejigbo and the police immediately launched a manhunt for the man who is now at large.

He was said to have escaped on his motorcycle before the police arrived at the house to arrest him.

Some of the neighbours who witnessed the incident were said to have been quizzed by the police and asked to make statements before they were released.

One of the tenants who spoke on the condition of anonymity blamed the incident on the mother of the boy who abandoned him for the father.
According to her, “Since the boy’s mother left him, the father has been finding it difficult to cope with the boy and he was always beating the boy until he killed him.”

She added that they had before now warned him that he could kill the boy one day due to the nature of beating he usually gives him.

Although the Divisional Police Officer at the Ejigbo Police Station was not on sit to confirm the incident, a police source at the station confirmed the incident and said the police had commenced full-scale investigation into the matter.
