The Commandant, Mr Muhammad Gidado, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the suspect was arrested in Gujungu town, in Taura Local Government Area of the state.
Gidado said the suspect was arrested at about 6.00 p.m. on Monday with two brief cases containing 1,000 packets of D5 tablet (200mg), 1,000 packets of Diazepam tablet (10mg) and 500 packets of Exol tablet (100mg).
He said the suspect was arrested while distributing the drugs to his agents, and described him as one of the major dealers in hard drugs in the area.
Gidado said the suspect would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action.
He said that NSCDC operatives had trailed the suspect since December, adding that he had previously escaped arrest seven times.
The commandant reiterated the resolved of the command to make Jigawa a drug-free state, and advised youths in the state to shun drug abuse and other vices. (NAN)
