The Enugu State government has enjoined all registered voters in the
State to ensure that they collect their permanent voters’ cards from
their respective polling units between Friday 23rd and Sunday 25th of
May, 2014 in accordance with the directives of the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information, Mr
Chuks Ugwoke said the exercise was very important as only voters with
permanent cards will be eligible to vote in the 2015 general
elections.

The Commissioner also advised citizens who may have lost their
temporary identity cards to go to their respective polling units to
obtain their cards within the same period.

He further enjoined citizens who were affected by the omission of
names in 621 polling units in the state due to an error from INEC as
well as those who had not registered at all or who may have attained
the voting age of 18 since the last exercise, to take advantage of a
new voters’ registration exercise commencing on the 28th of May and
ending on the 1st of June, 2014, to ensure that they are registered.

While noting that the production of voters’ cards may soon became a
requirement for a citizen to enjoy certain government services, Mr.
Ugwoke however warned citizens against double registration or any
other act that might negatively affect the exercise in Enugu State.
