Ex-military men want FG to declare war on Boko Haram

Chairman of the Nigeria Legion, Ebonyi State chapter, retired Group Captain Osmund Ogah, yesterday called on the federal government to declare total war on the Boko Haram sect.
Ogah, who made the call during the launch of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem, noted that Nigeria has capacity to end activities of the insurgents, because it has experienced and well trained military personnel including war equipment to defeat the sect. He added that it would be shameful if the sect was allowed to over-power the country.
He likened the activities of the insurgents to the Nigeria/Biafra war and urged the federal government to apply the same measure used in ending the war to end the Boko Haram insurgency.
“Government should declare a full scale war on Boko Haram. When the sect is defeated, the federal government can then talk about dialoguing or finding out the reason for their rebellious activities,” he said.
Ogah lamented that Nigerian Legion was still faced with the problem of payment of arrears and upgrade of pensions.
“We have not been paid the arrears for the 53 and 13 percentage increase and we are hoping that we won’t lose many more veterans before the arrears are paid,” he said.
