The most recent attack is coming from a chieftain of the APC, Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, who is also a member of the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation.

Baraje in a statement personally signed by him and was issued on Monday in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, blasted the Ekiti state governor over the advertisement linking Buhari to death, ThisDay reports.

The party chieftain drew the attention of  the Inspector General of Police, the INEC Chairman, State Security Services and other security agents to the inflammatory statements originating from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidates particularly Governor Fayose.

Baraje called on the security chiefs to wade in and quickly do something about the provocative comments emanating from Fayose, noting that such comments could ignite crisis in the country.
He described the advertisement placed on the front page of one of the national newspapers and credited to Governor Fayose as “not only reckless, uncalled for, but also a statement that can cause anarchy and crisis in the country.”

Baraje condemned the fact that Fayose’s statement is coming days after the presidential candidate of the PDP, President Goodluck Jonathan and that of APC, Buhari as well as the presidential candidates of other political parties signed a non-violence peace agreement accord for peaceful elections across the country.

“There is a limit to the tolerance of well meaningful Nigerians to inflammatory statements such as that of Governor Ayo Fayose. This shows the extent of the desperation of the ruling PDP. Such statement apart from having the tendency to cause anarchy and acrimony, the PDP seems to be preparing the grounds for violence few days to the general election,” he said.

The APC chieftain warned Fayose “not to dare God by asking Nigerians to choose between life and death which made him to refer to Buhari, the APC presidential candidate as a dead man due to his age.”

Baraje, however, pleaded with Nigerians to be patient and not to take laws into their hands, expressing believe that the ruling PDP is already scared about the impending outcome of next month’s elections.
It would be recalled that Fayose did an advertisement on Punch and Sun newspapers showing Nigeria’s past leaders comprising Late Gen. Sani Abacha, Murtala Muhammed, former President Musa Yar’Adua and the photograph of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari with a question mark on his image.
