Six PDP Senators Defect, Joins APC, LP

Six senators from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) camp has defected and joined the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP).

Six senators from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) camp has defected and joined the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP).

The defection of the senators to the opposition is said to have been triggered by the PDP primary elections.

Some PDP governors are said to have put their choices in and hijacked the primary elections.
One of the defecting six, Senator Atiku Bagudu Abubakar representing Kebbi Central joined the APC to contest the governorship election in Kebbi State.

Another, representing Cross River South Senatorial District, Senator Bassey Otu left to the LP due to his ambition for re-election to the Senate.

He failed to get the PDP ticket, which went to Chief Geshom Bassey, Chairman of the State Water Board.

Senator Barnabas Gemade due to his running feud against Governor Gabriel Suswan of Benue State defected over the issue of who should fly the flag of the PDP for the Benue North East Senatorial District.

The 2015 Nigerian elections, will determine the faith of not only the Presidential and governorship positions in the country but also senatorial spots.
