This fear of violence has led to talk that non- indegenes of a particular region should flee so as not to be caught up in a situation that mirrors the Nigerian Civil War.

To arrest talk of Electoral violence the President of the Nation, Goodluck Jonathan called a Council of State meeting to talk of postponeing the election so as to give INEC more time to share the Permanent Voters Cards which will be used for the elections.

The council though agreed for the elections to go as planned on February 14 across the country.

Despite talks of the elections going on as scheduled, measures are being taken to avoid being involved in election violence so much that voters are being advised to go to polling booths with their cameras to capture situations of violence and rigging.

In a report PM news describes how Southerners in the North especially in Kano are fleeing for fears that if President Jonathan wins there will be widespread violence just like it was in the post-2011 elections.
