How 2,000 Primary School Pupils Study In 2 Classrooms In Bauchi Will Leave You Disturbed

The Head of Guru Village, Alhaji Mohammad Baba, said over 2,000 primary school pupils study in two classrooms in the village in Bauchi State.

Alhaji Baba disclosed in an interview with NAN in Bauchi on Tuesday and according to him, the leadership of the village has been making efforts to ensure that more classes are created to ensure atmosphere conducive for the school children.

Baba noted that members of the village contributed and created two temporary classrooms but were ruined by rain storm.

He said after the destruction of the classes, two philanthropists in the village provided rooms in their houses to make four classes.

According to him, 1,000 of our school children are receiving lessons in just two classes provided by the residents.

“The village is more than 100 years old but the development of education in the area is very low”, Baba said.

Baba however noted that plans were under way to visit the State Universal Basic Education Office for another round of discussion for the construction of more classes in the village.

This development in Bauchi comes as a stain to the country’s growth in the education sector, considering the progress the country has made in the domain.

The education system in the country is supervised by the state. There are 27 federal and state-owned polytechnics in Nigeria while the first 6 years of primary education are mandatory in the country.
