The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba state has
accused former minister of Defence, Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma of bribing
INEC to rig the re-run governorship election in the state in favour of
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It has been reported by PM news that the ex-minister bribed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with the sum of N2bn not to declare Aishatu Jummai-Alhassan, the governorship candidate of APC winner of the guber polls in the state.
With the official results yet to be released, the youth leader of Alhassan’s campaign, Bala Abubakar Maina has claimed that INEC officials in the state has collected Two billion naira to tweak the results in favour of the PDP.
Bala is however optimistic that the rigging arrangement will fail because they already have permutations that Alhassan is the winner of April 11 elections.
“I am assuring you that with their TY Danjuma and the bribe money, Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan, Maman Taraba insha Allah will certainly be the next governor of the state,” Bala said.
Reacting in a similar vein, the secretary of Arch. Ishaku Darius Yakubu Campaign Organisation, the PDP guber candidate in the state, Nelson Lens accused APC of been indifferent to accept the fact that Taraba is a PDP state, which will remain a PDP state.
“TY is too big for this allegation, with our candidate who is already a marketable and sellable candidate, chief Darius did his homework very well; he has been nice to the people of Taraba even before his venturing into politics,” Nelson said.
Theophilus danjuma who has come under heavy criticism for insulting former Biafran warlord, late Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu was compared to someone suffering from brain failure by the national chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh.

Chief Umeh was reacting to statements credited to Danjuma that the late Ojukwu was responsible for the bloodshed that
took place during Nigeria’s civil war because he failed to concede
defeat as President Goodluck Jonathan recently did to Muhammadu Buhari.
However, with all eyes on the re-run elections set to take centre stage this coming week in Taraba, the APC has given its condition to INEC before participating in the Taraba State governorship re-run election.
In
the results earlier announced earlier, PDP polled 317,198 votes, while
the APC scored 262,386, but INEC has now fixed the run off of the
governorship elections for April 25, 2015
