Yemi Osinbajo, the vice president of Nigeria, on June 2, Tuesday attended the inauguration of Sudanese president, Omar al-Bashir in Khartoum.
The vice president represented President Muhammadu Buhari, who had to make a trip to Chad and Niger.
President Bashir has been in power since 1989 and won 94% of the vote in a national election in April, the first since Sudan saw its south secede in 2011. He was sworn in for another five-year term Tuesday, extending his 25-year rule.

After attending the inauguration in Sudan, Osinbajo had commiserated with the people and government of Anambra state over the fuel tanker accident, which claimed over 50 lives at Upper Iweka in Onitsha. He visited the scene of the tragic accident and those who sustained injuries at Toronto hospital on June 3, Wednesday.
