Nigeria has continued to show its determination in eradicating Ebola Virus Disease in Africa by donating $1m in the on-going struggle.
This is not the first time the country is donating towards the cause of fighting the disease that has claimed several lives in the continent.

The Punch reports that Mrs. Ayo Adesugba, the director of press and public relations in the ministry of health said in a statement that President Muhammadu Buhari was represented by Mr. Linus Awute who is the permanent secretary in the ministry of health at international conference of African ministers of health in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
The donation was made at the occasion where it was also revealed that Nigeria is in support of the establishment of an African centre for Disease Control.
“Nigeria is not celebrating the end of Ebola in Nigeria until this disease is totally eliminated from the West African region. This is because Ebola in one country remains also a threat to another. Therefore, meeting the challenge is crucial to us right now and so we remain committed to support all efforts of the African Union in this fight.”
The presidency observed that the West African region was the first to take the step to establish a regional centre for disease control. Nigeria was said to be partnering with private sector to develop therapies in eradicating the disease.

The statement revealed that the president noted that the recent cases of Ebola discovered in Liberia which had already been certified Ebola free was an indication that the continent was battling a larger proportion of the dreaded disease.
