Investigations has showed that traffic lights leading into the presidential villa, the seat of power in Abuja and the national assembly have not been working for at least two months.
The national assembly, presidential villa and Supreme Court are all located in the popular Three Arms Zone (TAZ).
TAZ which was modeled after United States Capitol Hill in Washington D.C where the United States congress, the Supreme court and the White House are within a short distance of each other does not seem to be achieving its aim as there is often times heavy traffic on the road leading into the presidential villa and national assembly because of these faulty traffic lights.

Naij.com observed that traffic wardens and police officers stationed at these junctions to help with the free flow of traffic get tired easily and are seen tucked away hiding from the sun when at its peak.
“The traffic lights close to the federal secretariat phase I and phase II have been compromised for a while now. We expect that government would take notice of this quickly and repair it but that is not the case here. They would rather put a traffic warden to man these junctions in the sun,” Mr. Mohammed, a commercial driver said.
Majority of the traffic lights around the Three Arms Zone where the national assembly, presidential complex and federal secretariat are situated are faulty.
“Most of the traffic light in this corridor are not functioning very well. There are some traffic lights that display red for go and green for stop. It is very confusing and annoying,” Mr Sunday Adesina, a civil servant said.
Traffic lights in most parts of the Abuja metropolis have gone completely bad begging for repairs and this is even made worst by the epileptic and undependable power supply. In most satellite towns where traffic lights exist they have become ornaments on the highway with the poles either destroyed by careless motorists or vandalized.
