Nonye and Emeka were married recently in a traditional Igbo ceremony in Okporu Orlu, Imo state where the bride’s family comes from.

Prior to their big day, Emeka proposed to his bride-t0-be at a special dinner attended by family and close friends. He presented Nonye with a beautiful diamond ring and, of course, she said yes.
The bride narrated their love story to Naij.com: “Love comes when you least expect it. We officially met each other in 2007 even though our families have known each other for years. Unfortunately, we didn’t hit it off straightaway but we kept in touch through Facebook and other social media sites.Fast forward to 2014 and Emeka finally asked me out and we went on our first official date. We had such a good time together.”
Emeka told Naij.com that he knew he was going to marry Nonye after that first date.

But Nonye said, based on the distance between them – he lives in the United States; she, in Nigeria – the journey to the altar was not easy.
She said: “Emeka had to shuttle between the States and Nigeria but we both knew we wanted to be together so we both made sacrifices accordingly.”
Eventually, it all paid off and the two had the first of the usual three weddings most Nigerian couples have. The colourful event in Nonye’s village, at her father Eze Odiri’s home, was attended by family and friends with the princess’s regal looks accentuated by her exquisite coral beads.
