Former Nigerian International, Yakubu Aiyegbeni is set for a sensational return to English football when he features for national league side Boreham Wood in a friendly against Reading FC today, July 9.

The striker, who is expected to play some part for the fifth-tier club against Championship side Reading, is believed to be on trial with the Hertfordshire outfit.

The club took its official twitter handle to make the announcement.

NEWS: We can announce that Former @Everton @officialpompey @ReadingFC striker YAKUBU will feature for the Wood against the royals tomorrow.

Aiyegbeni, 33, spent a decade plying his trade in England before he last played professionally for the Turkish outfit Kayserispor.

Last season, he played 12 times, without scoring, for Turkish Super Lig side Kayserispo.

Yakubu made 57 international appearances for Nigeria, scoring 21 goals. He signed for Portsmouth in 2005 and played for several clubs in England before his release by Reading in May 2015.
