Waku in an interview with Daily Trust said Buhari should have started his probe from the Olusegun Obasanjo regime.
The one time gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue state during the 2015 general elections, urged the current administration to revoke sale of houses and properties that were sold by Obasanjo to individuals and give them back to the states.
He said: “You cannot privatise state’s property to individuals. If that government was in power today, they would have privatised the National Assembly and, probably, privatised the Aso Rock Villa.”

In his assessment of the APC change mantra, he said the Buhari administration was trying to sanitise the system after inheriting an unbelievable burden from the Jonathan administration.
When the present government took over, there were 27 states of the federation that could not pay workers’ salaries. The government inherited an unbelievable burden and if this government did not come into power, we would never have known that N2.6 billion of tax payers’ money was given to individuals to pray for (former president Goodluck) Jonathan and for some people to remain in power. This government’s effort in exposing fraud and trying to sanitise the system is an achievement. It is true that there is hardship, but change brings many difficulties until things stabilize, he said.
Meanwhile, Olusegun Obasanjo remains relevant to the final resolution of the crises that have rocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since after the party lost the 2015 general election.
This is obvious from the drama that played out in the evening of Thursday, August 5 at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua centre where coincidence brought the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee to the former president, who was attending a meeting of farmers.
The chance meeting which lasted for only six minutes created the impression that the party, hardly hit and looking to start afresh, may be making overtures at the former president.
