Hajj 2016: Official dupes 20 intending pilgrims

– A 40-year-old man who is an ad-hoc staff at the Nasarawa State Pilgrim Welfare Board, has allegedly duped about 20 intending pilgrims in the state 

– Sagir Mohammed, now at large, duped his victims of the money they paid to perform this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

– Nasarawa state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has warned intending pilgrims from the state, to desist from anything that could tarnish the image of the state, while in the Holy Land

Sagir Mohammed, a 40-year-old man, working as an ad-hoc staff at the Nasarawa State Pilgrim Welfare Board, has allegedly duped about 20 intending pilgrims in the state of an undisclosed amount of money.

According to the Punch, Mohammed has been given an ultimatum of 24 hours to come out of hiding and provide the money he took from the victims.

It was gathered that Mohammed, now at large, duped his victims of the money they paid to perform this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

Abdulrazaq Muhammed, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the board confirmed the incident. He said that the suspect has been working as an ad-hoc worker of the agency for over three years before the incident of fraud.

Nasarawa state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, in a farewell statement to the 1,468 intending pilgrims from the state, warned them to desist from anything that could tarnish the image of the state, while in the Holy Land.

Meanwhile, the airlifting of Nigerian pilgrims from Sokoto to Saudi Arabia for the 2016 hajj was launched by President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, August 8. The president was represented by Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state.

He restated the federal government’s commitment to make Nigeria a better place for all.
