Editor’s note: Joe Fortemose Chinakwe hit the headlines last week after being arrested and spending three days in police cell for naming his pet dog Buhari.
Since then his name has been in the news for about a week or more, dividing Nigerians on those supporting the man and those accusing him of disrespect to the president.
Kenee Muji, a native of Cross River state residing in Abuja, has expressed his view on the сontroversial situation.
The issue of Joe Chinakwe a trader who is being detained in Ogun police station following reports that he named his dog Buhari, I want to say that is inhumane, against the fundamental right of Nigerians and is a minus on the part of the Nigerian police.

This is a clear coalition of some sort of separatist group immuned due to the fact that our leaders are selfish and tribalistic.
Why should he be arrested? How about my neighbour’s dog named Goodluck, should a group of people stage a protest against that or rather invite the police to intimidate the young fellow that owns the dog?
Outrightly, no. We are at liberty to name our pets what ever name please us. So, what is amazing to me now is that this trader’s dog is been killed by some Northern allies as reported in the news, yet this man is still being treated helly.

Who can stand in to defend this man? I truly feel boredom knowing that he is unjustly passing through this nasty scenario while his pregnant wife cries helplessly. May God help us ooo!
