Nigeria’s wait for a first 2016 Rio Olympics medal will continue as Ese Brume failed to find a podium place in the women long jump’s final.

USA’s Tianna Bartoletta claimed gold with a jump distance of 7.17m, country woman Brittney Resse finished second with a jump of 7.15m.

In third place was Serbian star Ivana Spanovic who finished at 7.08m.

Malaika Mihambo finished with 6.95ms while Nigeria’s Ese Bruma who finished fifth could only jump as far as 6.81m.

Meanwhile Divine Oduduru, Nigeria’s sprinting hope failed to qualify for the final of the 200m’s after coming seventh in the 2nd semi-final of the race.

The likes of Usain Bolt, 100m brinze medalist Andre De Grasse and Christophe Lemaitre qualified for the finals.

Oduduru posted time of 20.59 seconds in the semi-finals and finished 21st overall among 24th athletes.
