While the entire Ondo is said to be on fire following the naming of Jimoh Ibrahim as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the state governor, Olusegun Mimiko and President Muhammadu Buhari have hust held a close-door meeting inside the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, Abuja.
Mimiko reportedly reached Aso Rock just a little before mid-day for the very crucial meeting that is threatening his state.
Daily Trust reports that issues the governor wants to discuss with the president include the declaration of Jimoh Ibrahim as the PDP flagbearer for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday, October 27, named Ibrahim as PDP candidate instead of Eyitayo Jegede who has the support of Mimiko and others in the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the party.
Since Ibrahim was named, the state has been boiling with youths spoiling for war.
It was learnt that Mimiko informed Buhari of the danger in declaration of Jimoh Ibrahim as PDP candidate in the election in the state.
The governor said what INEC did could cause a major problem in the state as there was no moral justification for the electoral umpire to have rejected the popular candidate of the party for Ibrahim.
Mimiko said the president has promised to look into the issue.
