An ambassadorial nominee from Katsina state, Usman Bugaje has revealed why he rejected President Muhammadu Buhari’s call to serve his nation under the current administration.

The Cable reports that Bugaje, who is from the same state as the president, explained that his hands were full and so, he could not attend to any other thing, hence his rejection.

Bugaje, who said he would not speak to the media about his decision, took to his Facebook page to expain himself to Nigerians and the president for ignoring his call.

“Regarding the published nomination for an ambassadorial posting, I have not spoken to the press and may not do so anytime soon,” he wrote.

“I thank those who think me fit for the job, but I have so much in my hands already, especially the Arewa Research and Development Project (ARDP), which is the only broad platform in the north driving development.

“I have weighed the options and have decided to remain home and continue the struggle for development and good governance.”

Besides Bugaje, two other nominees have rejected different presidential appointments. One is Pauline Tallen, a former deputy governor of Plateau state, who also rejected her ambassadorial appointment, citing lack of “proper consultation” as the reason for her decision.

Another nominee, Akintunde Akinwande, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is also believed to have turned down his appointment as‎ the chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) after refusing to see the Senate for screening or the DSS for security clearance.
