The Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Environment, Mr Fidelis Nwankwo, told newsmen in Abakaliki that the government was studying the proposal from the firm, Orise Technik, to actualise the project.
“The firm has visited the state to find out how they can covert waste to wealth instead of carrying refuse and dumping them everywhere in the state.
“There should be well designed plans to utilise wastes to create employment for the teeming unemployed people in the state.’’
Nwankwo said the project involved the conversion or recycling of wastes to create wealth.
“And that is what is in vogue right now in the country and the world in general; Lagos State has gotten to the extent of using waste to generate electricity.”
He explained that the company had also indicated interest to construct a plastic recycling plant for polythene materials.
