Buhari Under Pressure To Probe Wike – Read Why

President Muhammadu Buhari has been called by the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Rivers state, to pay attention to the Federal Ministry of Education in his bid to recover some of Nigeria’s looted funds.

The APC Rivers State Chairman, Dr. Davies Ikanya, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Sunday, urged President Buhari, to investigate the years of the former Supervisory Minister of Education, Governor Nyesom Wike.

Ikanya specifically drew the attention of the President to an allegation that N20bn was released for the purchase of books for Federal Government institutions, adding that such books were never provided.

Rivers state APC chairman urges President Buhari, to look into other areas like the Almajiri School Scheme, the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Trust Fund and the N87bn approved for the ministry but not utilized.

According to Punch he says, “The over N180bn UBEC funds allegedly looted by Chief Wike and Dame Patience Jonathan, through fraudulent contracts for the supply of textbooks to higher institutions but were never supplied”.

He also made reference to the recent fire that razed down only the Basic Education Section of the Federal Ministry of Education building in Abuja, containing relevant documents about Wike’s activities while he held the office, as the Supervising Minister of Education.

However, the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has thrown its weight behind President Muhammadu Buhari in his bid to investigate and recover the billions of naira looted by the immediate past administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

Meanwhile, the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in the state, stated that buses belonging to it were used by the governor for his campaign rallies but sine Wike became governor, they are yet to be returned.
